Gatwick International Airport: Terminal and Facilities |
|
Gatwick’s two terminals, designated North and South, are home to more than 70 airlines. Both of the terminals handle domestic and international flights and are connected by a modern monorail. Despite being London’s second busiest airport, the atmosphere at Gatwick is decidedly mellower than at neighbouring Heathrow.
The North Terminal is slightly larger, with separate areas for its domestic and international flights. International visitors should expect the immigration process to take around 50 minutes, including baggage pick-up. Both the North and South terminals have extensive facilities to help travellers get started on their trip to London, many of which stay open 24-hours.
Arriving passengers will find ATMs, currency exchange kiosks, restaurants, bars and numerous shops in each terminal. A large duty-free outlet section can be found in the Departures area of each terminal. Airport information desks are located in the main concourses of both terminals to help with travel and tourism questions.
The South Terminal has a post office and fully-equipped medical centre in the adjacent Ashdown House building where travellers can get immunisations and basic medical care. Business class travellers can take advantage of the airport’s Fast Track priority service to speed up their check in. There is also an extensive range of business services available at the nearby Hilton and Meridian hotels. Call the main airport information office for more details at: +44 870 000 2468.
